3 Spots to Find Immense Natural Beauty

Many travelers love to look at stunning landscapes when they travel. There are some very unusual places to see on earth. Here are a few ideas for world travelers that they might want to consider in 2018.

Danakil Desert

National Geographic has named the Danakil Desert in Ethiopia one of the cruelest places on earth because it is one of the hottest, lowest and driest places on earth. It is also home to an amazing volcano with numerous bubbling lava lakes that light up the night sky. Visitors often see long lines of camels being led across the great salt pans as they carry salt to market. The vivid colors of the hydrothermal field make visitors feel like they have left earth and traveled to another planet.

Vatnajökull National Park

While many travelers to Iceland focus on visiting Pingvellir, Gullfoss and the Blue Lagoon, the ice field in Vatnajokull National Park is a stunning natural landscape to see. The best time to go is from mid-July to the end of August when all areas of the park are normally open. Therefore, glacier hiking and camping may make a great break from the heat.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves

New Zealand offers a great variety of scenery including beaches, mountains, lakes and glaciers, but one of the most unusual landscapes is their Waitomo Glowworm Caves. The rachnocampa luminosa give off a luminescent light providing an eerie glow as you take a boat ride through their home. Blackwater rafting through the caves is an experience visitors are likely to never forget.

While there are many different beautiful spots on earth, these three offer something truly unique.

Tourism Experts Put Together List Of Best Museums In St. Petersburg, Russia

Russia’s St. Petersburg is one of the best cities on earth for art lovers. Luckily for first-time tourists, travel experts have just put together a list of the top museums everyone must visit while in this grand city. Below, we’ll go through the five best museums in the cultural capital of Russia.

First on travel critics’ list is the State Russian Museum. As you might expect from the name, this museum houses over 400,000 works of art by Russian artists. Indeed, when it opened in 1898, this museum was the first in the world to showcase the prowess of Mother Russia’s artists. You’ll find this museum on Inzhenernaya Street near Mikhaylovsky Square.

The next museum you must visit is The Hermitage at Palace Embankment, 38. This massive museum is one of the largest in the world and includes the Tsars’ former Winter Palace. It would take a lifetime to see the millions of masterpieces housed in this museum. A few highlights include works by Renaissance greats like Michelangelo and Raphael as well as paintings by Rubens, Rembrandt, and Vincent van Gogh.

For people who are more into modern art, check out the Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art. While it was only founded in 2010, the Erarta Museum has collected well over 2,000 works of contemporary art and hosts numerous concerts throughout the year. The Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art is located at 29 Liniya Vasil’yevskogo Ostrova, 2.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Samoilov Family Museum at Stremyannaya Street, 8. This museum is the apartment that the legendary actor Vassily Vassilievich Samoilov used to call home. As you walk through this museum you’ll learn more about Samoliov’s life as well as his enduring contributions to Russian theater. Be sure to check beforehand to see if there will be a classical music performance while you’re visiting.

Endangered Cambodian Lake.

Fishing in the world’s many lakes has been impacted by many environmental changes. No more so than the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia, which in the dry season, covers almost 1,000 square miles. During the wet season, May to November, the lake swells to 6,000 square miles and is the area’s main source of fish, as they flow from the Mekong River into the lake.

Due to illegal trawling in protected waters and changes in ecology, local, legal fishermen struggle to make a decent living. At one time, the Tonle Sap Lake was one of the largest inland fisheries, but now at least four types of fish have not been caught in recent years and others are smaller and fewer in numbers. Fish from the lake feeds 80 percent of the population and many thousands of tons of fish are exported to neighboring countries.

A string of hydro dams along the Mekong and its tributaries has also impacted problems facing the lake. These dams prevent fish migration and add to the vanishing fish dilemma. Between these additions, climate changes and droughts in recent years, locals fear there may not be enough fish for future generations. Many families living in the area for over 40 years have decided to move away from the place they love to ensure a better future. They are in debt and if they stay, there will come a time when they cannot afford to buy fruit and vegetables and will have to eat less.

Tourism Malaysia Faces Criticism For 2020 Logo

In an effort to entice foreign visitors, the Tourism Malaysia group announced its Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign at the most recent ASEAN Tourism Forum. During this event, Tourism Malaysia unveiled its now controversial 2020 logo, which features monkeys, turtles, and the world-famous Petronas Towers.

Soon after this logo was shown to the public, Malaysians took to the Internet to vent their frustrations. Now, this little tourism logo has become a hot political issue for Minister of Tourism and Culture YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz.

There is now a petition on change.org to get rid of the Malaysia Travel 2020 logo and make a new one. As of today, there are over 12,000 online signatures. The goal is to reach 15,000 signatures.

Mustaffa Azizi Idris, a resident of Malaysia, started this online campaign. In his petition, Idris says that the 2020 design is “appalling” and in no way represents Malaysia’s rich history and culture. He orders Tourism Malaysia to scrap this design and make a new logo. Many Malaysians also took to Twitter to express their disgust over this 2020 logo.

Although Idris has support from thousands of locals, it’s not likely his petition will get him anywhere. YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz hasn’t expressed any support for the “STOP Tourism Malaysia” petition.

Over the past few years, Malaysia has been investing a ton of money into its tourism infrastructure. A few of the most popular spots for international tourists include Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Tioman, Langkawi, and Penang.

Rare $500 Tickets To Brussels Now Offered At Major American

There’s no excuse for putting your European dream vacation on the backburner this year. Major airlines in dozens of American cities are now offering extremely cheap plane fares to Brussels, Belgium.

So, just how cheap are these discounted tickets? The most you’ll have to pay is in the $500-range. In some cases, these tickets could go as low as $400.

These prices are exceptional values for the busy spring and summer travel seasons. Indeed, the average price for tickets to Europe in the springtime is around $800 and summer travel could be around $1,000.

Some of the major airlines participating in this discount include Lufthansa, Air Canada, Delta, and Air France. Almost all of the major cities in the USA should have these discounted tickets available right now. Unless you’re flying out of New York, however, you’ll most likely have to make one stop before you arrive in Brussels Airport (IATA: BRU).

The dates available for this discount vary depending on what city you’re planning on flying out from. As of today, there are still plenty of tickets available between March – May and a few in August.

Even if people aren’t interested in visiting Brussels, it’s still a good idea to take advantage of these ticket prices. From BRU, travelers can easily book a transfer flight to other major European cities.

You Can Now Get Paid to Live in Italy

Ever thought packing up and moving somewhere across the world only to remember that you don’t have enough money to hop on that next plane out of town? Well, that may not be an issue anymore. Candela, a tiny town 80 miles outside of Naples, Italy, is actually paying people to come and live there. The mayor, Nicola Gatta, is paying people over two thousand dollars just move to Italy. The tiny town used to be home to about 8,000 people. But, it only has about 2,500 now. So, Mayor Gatta needed a plan. And his plan was just to pay people to come and live in his town. The caveat? You are required to find a job once you get there. And, that job must pay a minimum of 7,500 a year. But, that’s not too hard, right? Well, actually it is. You see, there’s a reason the town only has 2,500 people living there. That means that there aren’t many jobs available. Also, that 2,000 Euros isn’t quite what it first seems. For one person, you will make 800. Couples will make 1500. Only if you have a family of five or more will you make that 2,000, just like this article describes: https://nypost.com/2017/10/23/charming-italian-town-will-pay-you-to-move-there/
Still, you may be infatuated with the idea of getting paid to move to this eensey little place an hour from the beach. I know I am. So, maybe you should just take this chance, pack your suitcase, and hop on that next flight.

Revised Forecast For Japan’s Cherry Blossom Season Released

Travelers interested in viewing Japan’s famous cherry blossoms should plan to be in Tokyo by mid-March. That’s according to the latest 2018 cherry blossom forecast from the Japan Meteorological Corporation (JMC).

The JMC expects cherry blossom trees to start blooming on March 20th in Japan’s capital city. This weather report predicted Tokyo’s cherry blossoms will be in full bloom on March 28th.

The JMC also looked at the forecasts of other major cities all around Japan. People traveling to Kyoto will most likely see cherry blossoms bloom on the 27th and peak on April 4th. Cherry blossoms in the nearby city of Osaka should start blooming on March 26th and reach their height on April 3rd.

People traveling to the northern island of Hokkaido should expect cherry blossoms to bloom on May 3rd and reach their peak on May 6th.

Staff a the JMC told reporters they have an intricate method to predict these times using information gathered from the previous year. In addition to looking at annual trends, the JMC also looks at the temperature this new batch of cherry blossoms grew up in through the fall and winter.

The Japanese cherry blossoms (aka sakura) attract millions of tourists from around the world every year. There are at least 1,000 different areas of this island nation to enjoy cherry blossom season, and many restaurants offer special sakura-themed eats during this time.

The practice of viewing cherry blossoms goes way back in Japanese history. Some records suggest people were practicing hanami, which basically means having a picnic underneath sakura trees, since the early 700s.

For many, viewing Japan’s sakura is a religious experience. In fact, this annual festival is closely associated with the Buddhist truth of impermanence in Japanese culture and art.

Tourists can check out the JMC’s latest revisions on their official website before booking their tickets to Haneda Airport.

If you can, travel guides highly advise you visit the Yucatán Peninsula when the Monarch butterflies arrive for their yearly migration.

The third most interesting place to visit in 2018 is the South American nation of Bolivia. Many tourists consider Bolivia to have the greatest scenery in all of South America, especially in the hypnotizing Salar de Uyuni salt flats.
