Visiting California’s Honey Town

Monterey bay is increasingly becoming a great place for Bee keepers. Tourists are in increasingly going there to visit the Bee farms and to sample the honey they produce.

One event in the city is The Amazing World of Bees which includes a ninety minute instructional tour discussing the role of the bee in nature and the role that beekeeping plays in the area as well as the world at large. This takes place at Carmel Valley Ranch at has honey and bee product related tastings in addition to interactive exhibits.

Nor is The Amazing World of Bees the only bee related thing to see in Monterey County. Nearby restaurants serve homemade honey from bee hives on the property. For example, the Bernardus Lodge and Spa used honey from three hives on site to prepare dishes for the Lucia Restaurant. Examples of some dishes include bee infused cocktails.

The are even has a 15 year old, Jake Riesdorf, who started over 125 different bee hives and began selling honey over the internet and to some local retailers. You can visit his website www.carmelhoneycompany.com and buy honey as well as accessories like t-shirts. Jake will even show you how to pair his honey with various dishes like apples and cheese.

Honey is a local product in that regardless of where you eat it, the flavors bring back the flowers and pollen from the local plants that the bees used to create the honey. Monterey is now considered a leading company for honey production.

San Diego’s Beer Community Grows

San Diego is a tourist hot spot for a number of different reasons; it has some beautiful coastline and beachfront areas, it has access to some unique parks like Sea World and a Lego Land, and it has one of the best zoos in the world. These sites are increasingly being considered some of the best options for tourists of all ages.

One thing that is being highlighted recently is the beer scene in San Diego which is growing and developing into a real paradise. There are about 130 different beer breweries based in San Diego, and a real wide variety of different styles. Breweries are of course popping up all over the country but San Diego’s brewery scene seems special due to a nearby Hops farm.

San Diego is also home to the Nopalito Farm which grows a wide range of different things and is located just outside the San Diego town border. Along with the vegetables and fruits that are grown at Nopalito Farm, the farm also produces hops that are increasingly used at the local breweries. This brings a whole new emphasis on the grow and eat local movements and has some real benefits to the breweries which can benefit from freshly delivered hops which have a fresher flavor.

San Diego is one of the leading travel destinations on the west coast of the United States, and rightfully so, due to the uniqueness of the sites in the city. Now San Diego is also being recognized for its nascent beer scene and the community that is developing around it.

Two More Climbers Die in California’s Yosemite National Park

As the busy summer travel season gears up, there is more tragic news coming out of Yosemite National Park.

Two climbers died on Saturday morning at the popular California national park, according to park spokeswoman and Park Ranger Jamie Richards. The call came shortly after 8:15 am local time. Park rangers and search and rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene. By the time they arrived, the two climbers had already passed away. It is not known yet if the death was immediate.

According to Richards, the two climbers fell when they were on the Freeblast Route of El Capitan. The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of relatives. The events leading up to the incident are still under investigation by authorities.

This is the second incident in as many weeks at Yosemite National Park. In May, a man hiking the infamous Half Dome trail fell to his death. He had been using the trail’s cables when a severe afternoon thunderstorm struck the area and the man slipped and fell. He had been with a hiking partner at the time, who was able to call 911 and summon rescuers. Park rangers were able to help the second hiker, but the first man’s body was not found until the next afternoon. The cables are used to take hikers up the remaining 400 feet of the Half Dome’s 5,000-foot summit. The death was the first on the cables since they launched in 2010.

WalletHub Releases List Of Top US Summer Travel Destinations

The company WalletHub just released their 2018 picks for the best American cities for a summer vacation. While all of these locations have plenty of attractions, one of the main priorities with these choices was affordability.

Analysts behind this list researched 100 major metropolitan areas across the USA using six main criteria: ease of travel, local costs, number of attractions, weather, activities, and safety. After ranking each of these locations, they averaged out the scores to find out what city offered the best bang for a traveler’s buck.

The overall best city for a summer vacation according to WalletHub is Washington, DC. One of the main draws to the nation’s capital is the fact that so many iconic attractions like the Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian museums are 100 percent free.

Number two on WalletHub’s list is a popular city for kids (and kids at heart): Orlando. Of course, Orlando’s main strength is its world-renowned theme parks including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando, and Seaworld.

Coming in at third place is Austin, Texas. Study authors note Austin is the perfect city for people who want a summer vacation filled with award-winning live music concerts.

From number four to ten, here are the rest of WalletHub’s absolute best picks for summer destinations: Chicago, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Las Vegas, Houston.

In terms of individual categories, here’s how the winners sorted out: Cincinnati took the prize in the ease of travel category, Oklahoma City won for the lowest local costs, Los Angeles had the most attractions, Honolulu had the best weather, New York City had the most activities guests could participate in, and Maine’s Portland won for the safest travel destination.

Berlin as an Excellent Location to Visit

Berlin is a city that has been both the focal point of good memories and bad. As a previous location for the world Olympics, the city received excellent publicity. Unfortunately, this publicity turned sour when the Nazi regime took over the country, officially tainting the reputation of the city for years. Now, in the modern day world, Berlin has a healthier position with the rest of the world. Germany is seen as a powerful force in Western Europe and one that supports the European Union with its high ranking economy and excellent engineering schools. The city has become the location for tourists of Europe, with its nice night life scene and its luxurious hotel choices, as outlined in an article from Forbes (https://www.forbestravelguide.com/destinations/berlin-germany).

Germany is a great location for tourists to visit, especially history nuts and Holocaust researchers. The location offers the option to visit locations relevant to World war II, giving access to previous Nazi factories, brew houses, and ruined concentration camps. If you are not history savvy Berlin offers a multitude of different entertainment options, with live music, excellent bars and fantastic restaurants open all hours of the day and night.

While many people visit Europe not many see the relevance in visiting Berlin. This is quickly changing as Germany is quickly redeveloping into a country that matters to the rest of the world. This economic giant is a great place to visit, both for business and if you just want to take your family somewhere different.

Osaka as the Main Attraction for Luxury

Japan is quickly becoming the main stopping point for tourists looking for a safe country to visit. The rich cultural landscape and beautiful mountain ranges make it an ideal location for anyone seeking something different. One location that tourists go to is the major city of Osaka, which is located on the western side of the main island of Honshu. Osaka has a rich cultural landscape, which is deeply seeded into the past. While other cities in Japan have embraced western ideas and are focused on westernizing generally through the adoption of English as a second language, Osaka remains true to Japanese traditional values which makes it an incredible destination for those interested in seeing how the real Japan is. One of the main things to look at in Osaka is lodging as the city has its fair share of luxury hotels, as outlined on Forbes (https://www.forbestravelguide.com/destinations/osaka-japan).

These hotels offer an interesting combination of familiar Western amenities with traditional Japanese settings. Not only are you able to sit back and enjoy a good night of watching movies on a TV but also have the ability to enjoy the experience of an authentic tea ceremony in action. This combination of East and West means that tourists can experience the ultimate of traveling trip. The experiences witnessed on such a trip can be told to family members for years to come. This is a big deal for trip enthusiasts and those interested in Asia alike. Osaka is the ultimate location to visit.

Japan as the Ultimate Tourist Location

Japan probably does not strike you as being a very interesting place to travel to as a tourist. The modern industrial complex of the country and the fact that much of the traditional rural areas are devoid of life makes the cost of the trip not especially appealing to those not accustomed to what is available. Surprisingly, as mentioned in an article from Forbes (https://www.forbes.com/sites/anismuslimin/2018/04/04/japans-richest-2018-tourism-takeover/#e4a95f8554a1), Japan is actually seeing a massive increase in tourism lately, to a degree that it may be able to significantly boost the economy of the country and move it into a new period of national prosperity.

The main sights of Japan to see are the traditional architecture and culture that the country still provides. Japan itself is a vibrant combination of new and old, which is unique to the country as it was forced to modernize from a feudal society of sword wielding warriors into one that used railroads and muskets within a time span of roughly twenty years. This unique perspective makes the cultural landscape, mannerisms of the Japanese people, and tourist locations especially interesting to tourists from the West.

One of the most popular sights to visit in Japan is the old capital city of Kyoto. Kyoto at one point in time was the seat of the Emperor and had been for hundreds of years. The city to this day represents this rich historical background with its elaborate Buddhist and Shinto temples. Japan is quickly becoming the place to go for Western tourists.
